There are talks spreading around international forums that Mexico is looking to develop a professional hockey league. Are these rumors true? Yes! Mexicohockey.com did some research and found out it this was true.
There are four or five business individuals that live in Polanco, a suburb just west of downtown Mexico city. They told Mexicohockey.com that they are in the process of laying down the foundation for a nation wide pro league which will be known as the Mexican Hockey League (MHL).
They tell us,the league will start off with four teams, and that the level of competition will be at the Junior A level or higher.
We asked one of our new members, Rob Lopez who is working with us here at Mexicohockey.com, how he felt about this new league. Here's what he had to say about this new league..."This new league is only going to increase the interest of hockey in Mexico, more interest means more kids playing hockey."
- "The Mexican people are passionate about their sports", said Lopez. They have developed some of the best fighters in the boxing world. Ice hockey would be the perfect sport for those fans that love to see physical contact. It's kind of like going to the bull fights to watch boxing...on Ice! The puck bits, just like the bull!Mexicohockey.com has offered to be the focal point or head quarters to help get the word out about this new MHL Pro league and to keep all interested players within Mexico up to speed on new and exciting news about the league.
As more news comes our way, you will be the first to know what's going on with this great and exciting new MHL Pro league.
